Tropical Spice Garden
The Tropical Spice Garden in Penang is a beautifully well maintained Eco-tourism spot in Penang Island.
Founded by David & Rebecca Wilkinson they brought to life something that they were only dreaming about and made it happen through the Spice Garden.
Funded by Bertam Consolidated Rubber Co. Ltd and, together with a few carefully selected people by the Wilkinsons, brought about the Tropical Spice Garden by transforming an abandoned rubber plantation into one of South East Asia’s award-winning & must-visit eco-tourism destinations.
Launched to the public in 2003, the spice garden houses over 500 exotic flora and fauna, some of which were close to extinction, all in bid to help educate the generations to come of their natural surroundings.
With an emphasis on spices, the garden, which spreads over 8 acres of secondary jungle, has been awarded the Gold Award, Laman Floral Garden Award, The Malaysia International Landscape & Garden Festival 2004 as well as the Merit Award, Tourism Malaysia ‘Best Man-Made’ tourism attraction 2005/06.
So the next time you are visiting Penang island, be sure to make a trip over to this unique Tropical Spice Garden for a truly memorable spicy tour.
